Tel : 0033472014500- Fax : 0033472014505 | | | The longest experience in laparoscopic bariatric surgery in France We started bariatric surgery in 1991, and laparoscopic gastric banding in April 1995: the first French case of lap-banding (a 33 year-old woman weighing 94 kg, BMI 37) has been operated on in our hospital. The Polyclinique de Rillieux is located in the north of Lyon, close to downtown city (20 min by taxi, or 45 min by bus), and to the Lyon-airport (20 min by taxi). There are cheap and convenient hotels nearby (a reservation can be made). A taxi driver connected to the hospital can pick you up at the airport (40 euros).
The total cost for the procedure is 5000 euros, including the cost of the prosthesis, fees, and a two days hospital stay. Hotel and travelling expenses are not included. The usual pre-op exams are included.
A pre-op visit is necessary 48 hours before operation. This allows us to deliver the most accurate information, have you sign an informed consent, and be examined by the anaesthesiologist.

Ever since it has been established, this obesity center has combined the experience of several physicians dedicated to the cares given to morbid obese people: surgeons (including a general surgeon and a plastic surgeon) and anaesthesiologists, nutritionist, endocrinologist, dietician, psychiatrist . The placement of a gastric band around the upper part of the stomach has been designed to improve weight-loss in morbidly obese patients (i.e. BMI above 40 kg/m2 or between 35 and 40 in case of related comorbidities).
The operation is carried out through a laparoscopic approach , that is without a major incision (“keyholes operation”).
The rate of complication is less important than in other bariatric procedures, such as bypass surgery.
